This makes me happy...

I've always loved this cake and I finally found a picture of it, so I thought I'd share it. It's simple, but so happy. I also like how it takes fondant and makes it look less perfect then usual. Fondant is helpful if you live in the heat soaked South, but I've always hated the look of it for the most part. This is a little messy...like me!

So simple...

and so beautiful. I've had this in my inspiration file forever and finally found a pic online, so I had to post it. Isn't it stunning? It's from Doo-Ri Chung's wedding article in Maartha a couple of years ago. Of course she would have something so simple and stunning...just like her clothes.

On a related note~ I found out that they grow in the flower beds at my husband's lake house in the UP. I had never seen them "in real life" growing until this past summer.

It looks so happy and cheery. It doesn't really go with the idea I have in my head for our reception, but it would be great for an summer daytime wedding I think.

Love this invitation...

This is exactly what I've had in mind for my STDs and maybe the invitation as well. I'd like the STD to basically be a letter to our friends telling them how special they've been to us over the years, etc. A really fabulous letter penned by Betsy Dunlap and letterpressed by Suann. 

What do you think of the idea?

Does anybody know anything about this brand? I've never seen one of the dresses in person and no stores in my area carry them. There is a large POB store in Atlanta though and I always like their designs, so I was thinking of going over there in the Spring to look around. Are the quality and price points decent?

I'm not shocked that I love all these VW dresses. I've been in love with her work since I was old enough to know who she was. I love the first dress, though I'm assuming you can take off the dark sash. You usually can and I SO would in this case.

I've never heard of this line, but I love these dresses! I wish the beautiful model would actually smile though. I've never understood why designers don't want happy people in their clothes. It makes zero sense to me.

The first dress might be the "perfect" dress for our new {maybe} venue*. It's classically beautiful with a little bit of sparkle and no poof!

*The new venue we're thinking about is a local upscale Italian restaurant owned by a James Beard award winner and it was the site of our first date.

***I just went on the CH website and it seems that these dresses are Fall 2009. Hmm...I wonder if Maaartha has them all wrong?

Angel Sanchez Spring '09

He is a genius. I love all of his gowns and it was very hard to narrow it down to these 4. I could have posted all 13 of them. I am in LOVE with the first one. It's so delicate, but architectural with the pleats. I also LOVE that it isn't strapless. I wear a DD, so I need something that has a little support to it, but almost everything is strapless these days. Boo!

Really really really early...

This is really early planning, but we're planning on having a huge Halloween party NEXT year and I love these. I know that they can be made for cheaper than Maaartha would like me to pay, but wondered if anybody had ever seen any sort of template anywhere on the web? Thanks!!

Also, how cute is this invite from Dingbat Press? It comes as a whole Ghoul's Night Out party package...very cute idea.

This room would really cheer me up if it was in my house. It's a Maaartha room via Coco+Kelley. So fun and unique. Check out the blog if you don't already, because they just did a inspiration board contest that featured this room and a ton of other great ones. She's announcing the winner tomorrow I believe.
