x marks the spot...
Anybody want to give me pointers about making a map to include with invitations? I just need a basic map or set of directions to my house, but I want it to be as nice as the invitations, which Jordan is doing for me. So, the map can't be my normal hand-drawn and copied on copier paper kind of thing.
Help!

Need to pick your brain...
Ok, I need some blogger brain power...
~Anybody know of any good blogs about flowers/floral design? DIY stuff/inspiration type posts are preferred.
~I need help converting a normal size pie recipe into small tartlet type thingys. Anybody a baker here?
~Anybody from KY {or anywhere for that matter} want to share their favorite Derby party recipes? I've got a very Southern menu right now, but I need more dishes I think!
~Also, I can't possibly have as many Julep cups as people, so what should I use instead? I would love to be able to get away with using plastic cups, but I think I probably need to use glass. I have about 75 stemless glasses that I usually use for the bar at my parties, but I would love to be able to toss them in the trash at the end of the day. Isn't half the fun of a Julep is that the cup/glass gets all icy?
Ok, that's all for now...

a little down time...
Between the two parties in the next two months that I'm planning right now, getting the house/yard ready for both and the fact that we spent the weekend in and out of emergency rooms tending to Lil's head injury/cut, I think I need a bit of a break. I'll be back in a couple of days/towards the end of the week. If you're good readers and leave me a lot of comments on my old posts, I'll have a fancy giveaway at the start of next week!
Have a great week!

The reason to par-tay...
Perfection...
Another reason to party...
Looks like after How's party in April, I'll have another party to get ready for in May. I've always wanted to host a Derby Party, so I decided to go ahead and do it this year. I figure with all the bad news we wake up to every morning on the news, everybody could use a reason to celebrate. How better to celebrate, then with pretty hats, bowties and mint juleps? Also, I won the Nie auction for invitations from Jordan and I'm finally going to use them for this party. To start planning the party, I found these two boards to use as my inspiration for the party. I've had them saved for awhile, so it wasn't really a hard choice. I love the colors and the traditional look of both boards, but I'm hoping to add a more modern spin on it. More details to come in the next few weeks. If you've got a great Julep recipe, please share.
Anybody else love "The Run for the Roses"?

Do me a favor*
How cute are these? Sharilyn made the coloring books and favor bags for her darling daughter's 2nd birthday party. They were made from paper and fabric she had around the house, so they were inexpensive, but so don't look it! Since she's a super nice person she shared a how-to for the bags, so I think I might try and make them for Lil's party in June. I think I can make 40-50** before then...
*Yeah I named the post that...so silly.
**Yes, we have HUGE birthdays. I do a big one every other year.

Letterpress for less...
This is one of the pieces that made me want to have a whole week o' paper. Isn't it great? I've been waiting to share it and this time is here!
Not only is this suite beautiful, but Studio on Fire did a post featuring this invitation and tips on how to keep your letterpress costs down. How great is that? They share some really good information that you could use to print a job with anybody, but why not use the sweet people that taught you in the first place? Check out their blog and site, plus I'll be sharing another one of their pieces that is a favorite of mine!
