Look where we're going...

9 days/8 nights in heaven...

I just booked out summer beach trip to Seaside! I'm giving up 4 days in NYC for this trip and it's totally worth it. One thing that this recession has done for me is to make me cherish my family and the time we have together. I love that we're making memories for our daughter by doing things like this with her. That's worth a whole lot more than a four day shopping spree for me...and it's a hell of a lot cheaper if you shop like I do!

We're staying in a house that we've never stayed in before called American Dream, which is fitting since we're going over the 4th holiday. We got started in our planning late and there weren't many houses left, including all of our faves, but this one is cute. It's red, white and blue and looks very comfy and well-loved. Just what you want in a beach house, IMO.

I'm am SOOOOO looking forward to this trip.

Leaving on a jet plane...

{...}
This time tomorrow I'll be sipping something yummy by a fire in Whistler. We have to leave our house by 4am...and we're not done packing yet! Wish us luck on our first international trip with the little one. Posting will be light to none this week, unless I hurt myself or something. Do NOT wish for that! Have a wonderful week and I'll be back with lots of fun Christmas stuff the week of the 8th. :)

On the road again...

NOLA baby!!! New Orleans, Louisiana...one of my favorite cites in the world. We're off on Friday at noon and will be back on Sunday evening. I'm super excited, so in the next couple of posts, I'm going to share my favorite things about NOLA.

***One of the girls going is {not} dating a WORLD FAMOUS athlete and he's coming with us. It'll be cool to meet him tomorrow {it was awesome, he's a really cool guy}, but it's totally going to suck, when half of NOLA is asking for his autograph. Oh and he's REALLY famous, like Kobe and Lebron in one...

There's a hurricane brewin'...

and it's going to be a wild weekend!!!! Here is one of my favorite bars in NOLA, though it's probably one of the cheesiest as well. I just can't help it, I love Fruity Drinks!!!!

{It's a tourist trap, I know...but I love me a 'cane! Yummy!}

{Yes, please...I'll take two or three!!!}

{I'm obsessed with getting to be the one who lights the fountain fire...it's only happened twice though}

Collections.

Now that I actually have bookshelves, I think I'm going to do something like this. I'm planning on saving my first bottle this NYE in Seaside (she has a bottle of Destin sand in the second picture, isn't it beautiful? So white!), so wish me lucky on the next 100 or so.

Flip it, Flip it good...

Does anybody know anything about these cute little things? I'd love to take something with me on the mountain and I can't decide between this and my little Sony digi. Help!

Vacation...

We're finally going on a vacation! I can't believe it. It only took a knock-down fight this weekend to realize that we need a break. H works about 65 hours a week lately and has been across the "pond" twice in the last month and to Germany as well. We've been married for 5 years and have only gone on three real vacations that didn't include my husband's job in some way. As a lawyer, he's required to attend CLE's and other conferences throughout the year and since they're usually at great locations, we go and the firm pays for most or all of it. But, that doesn't exactly make them our vacations and they're almost never relaxing.
So, thanks to the incredible deals going on in the travel world {thanks to the crappy economy}, we're going to Whistler to stay at the Four Seasons for 7 nights! Yay! It's my first trip to Canada and Lillie's first trip out of the country. She's so excited to get her passport pictures taken tomorrow. What a nut! We're be there the first week of December and it just happens to be during this, which I'm pretty excited about as well. They have outdoor screenings, celebrity ski races and lots of other neat stuff apparently.

Oh and Lillie will totally be rockin' an outfit like this! How darling is this little one?
If anybody has any ski gear tips, I'll take them. I've never been, so I have no idea what I need! Well, I need pants with extra padding in the bum, but besides that, no clue!

Come sail away...

Come sail away, come sail away with me...

Well, sail away with my husband to be more exact. Because this is his Christmas gift! Ok, not the boat, I'm not completely nuts, but I'm giving him a gift certificate for sailing lessons in Tortola! It's a 10 day class that gets you ready to be able to charter your own monohull or catamaran and he's going to LOVE it. He's sailed before, but not in a long time. It'll make me feel much better about sailing the open seas with him this summer as well. I am not a huge fan of open water and small boats, but I'm going to try for him. Yay! I love it when a plan comes together!

On the road again...

We're going to Atlanta today to go to Ikea in search of this...
{from here}

It's the Stolmen and it's great! I'm in the process  of  making our front room (which is our formal-ish living room) into a work space/meeting area/ living room for my future business (I'm almost an LLC. Whooo hooo). So, even though these are supposed to be used in a closet, I've decided that they would make great bookshelves/storage for me. What do you think? I also just love a trip to Ikea, so we should have fun and come home a lot lighter in our bank account. Wish me luck!

I {heart} New York

(found this great picture here)

We are leaving Wednesday morning for NYC! Midtown Manhattan to be exact. My husband will be attending the American Bar Association annual meeting and I'll be SHOPPING. Yay! Oh and sleeping in! I probably won't post much , but I'll be back with pictures and all sorts of fun stuff. So the dozen or so people who actually read this will have to wait to see all the fun stuff I find!

I'm going to try on my dream dress at Vera Wang while I'm in town and I'm planning on scouring the town for ribbon, fabric and other crafty items, so I'll have lots to report. We're also going to eat here, here, here and here. Yummy!

Anybody have any other suggestions of not to be missed places?
