Blush and Bashful...

Ok, so our colors won't be pink and pink, but who doesn't love that movie? I actually love the color pink {you have to when you have a little girl}, but I can't do that to my sweet husband. He did rock a pink dress shirt for my baby shower {all of our friends wore pink} and I think that's asking enough for one lifetime. He looked so cute, btw.

Anyway, with pink, peach and purple and pretty much everything else out of the picture for various reasons, we found navy, lime/apple green and white. It only took like two years to pick this. This color palette is very us for many reasons though, so I'm happy in the end. I get to use two of my favorite flowers, green hydrangeas and bells of Ireland. Very excited to have green flowers. They make me happy!

And just to prove we have very good taste by picking this combo, here are two inspiration boards from one of my favorite blogs ever. If Kathryn does it, you know it must be cool.

What do you think?

Another reason to party...

Looks like after How's party in April, I'll have another party to get ready for in May. I've always wanted to host a Derby Party, so I decided to go ahead and do it this year. I figure with all the bad news we wake up to every morning on the news, everybody could use a reason to celebrate. How better to celebrate, then with pretty hats, bowties and mint juleps? Also, I won the Nie auction for invitations from Jordan and I'm finally going to use them for this party. To start planning the party, I found these two boards to use as my inspiration for the party. I've had them saved for awhile, so it wasn't really a hard choice. I love the colors and the traditional look of both boards, but I'm hoping to add a more modern spin on it. More details to come in the next few weeks. If you've got a great Julep recipe, please share.

Anybody else love "The Run for the Roses"?

For our little fish...

Look at the great board that the mystery author over at Veiled Vows made for me. We're throwing a swim/water themed birthday picnic for Lillie. The board is perfect and included many images I have on the blog or saved in my files. It must be fate!
Thanks again!

Oh and if you don't read her blog, you should. It's great!

Snippet and Ink on Ritzy Bee...

More citrus goodness by Kathryn via Ritzy Bee. Kathryn is there all week sharing her favorite things about winter weddings. It's great because I can read that instead of freaking out that my Christmas shopping isn't even close to done...Oops!

Lemons, limes and oranges...OH MY*

If you didn't notice, I've become slightly obsessed with all things citrus lately. So, since we MIGHT be going in a different direction with the vr {more on that later}, I decided to start looking at different color palettes that focused more on citrusy colors and less on beach colors. Anyway, here are a million of the wonderful choices from Snippet and Ink, just in case you have the same fascination that I do. How is a girl to choose? Kathryn has to STOP ALL THE GOODNESS or I'm going to explode! My absolute favorites are 109, 12 and 284, but they're all wonderful aren't they? Which one is your favorite?

Inspiration boards...

Since I can't make my own board {anybody want to help or make me one?? Please??} yet, I thought I'd share some of my favorite beachy themed boards from Snippet and Ink. Kathryn is so talented! We're planning on hosting our celebration {hate calling it a vow renewal for some reason} in Seaside, FL with a beach ceremony and the reception on their Lyceum Lawn...which is this huge beautiful green lawn by their community school. I'm thinking of doing bocce and croquet courts, since the lawn is HUGE and we're only having between 50-75 people. Anyway, there's a little background to go along with the boards. Aqua and red are pretty much the only two colors I'm set on, but that might change soon.

Since it's back on...

you'll notice a return to a lot of wedding/party inspiration. It's what I know best anyway. ;) I love to party.

I love this S&I board, but it's not quite the colors I'm thinking of. I need beachy, but not too beachy. This one seems a little too nautical and it's got a little too much pink in it for a then 32 and 38 year old's vow renewal. Don't ya think? I love this board though. It's very New England in the summer to me.

Birthday Party Inspiration

Lillie's birthday isn't until next summer, but since before her birthday this year, I've been planning on having a Candy Land/Candy themed party and this picture is now my inspiration for Lillie's party. In fact, Amy Atlas's website is full of wonderful pictures of dessert tables and candy bars.

So many colors...

so little time.

After all that work on my board, I came across this fantastic board on Snippet and Ink. I love the colors together and I'm not really a huge red fan. I am a huge fan of poppies though, so that could be what is pulling me in. Anyway, I think this would be perfect for a beach event and I think it is just the non-beachy beach look I'm trying to figure out. I would like to add a little bit of lime green in there though, since I love the idea of using actual limes in our flowers. Would that be too much? Please let me know what you think.

If you don't read Snippet and Ink (are you crazy?), you have to stop by. Kathryn is insanely talented, super nice and the site is full of ideas and new posts every day. It's a great read and probably my favorite blog right now. It's the first one I read each morning.

Be warned though, you will get sucked in for HOURS and your to-do list will be twice as long after you see all the great ideas on there. Also, the sources for all the pictures are there, so now you have to go!

My First Inspiration Board

Now that inspiration boards are all the rage, I've decided to make one for myself. The look I'm going for is laid back, but chic dinner party under the stars/by the sea. Simple right? We're doing the ceremony on the beach and then we'll walk to the Westside Pool for a wonderful sit-down dinner and then dancing under the stars. I think we'll do one long table filled with low centerpieces, those clear glass candlesticks from CB2 that are on the board and maybe scattered small starfish and sand dollars. Please be kind...this is the first board I've ever made and I had to use a program that makes it for you. I only wish my boards were half as cool as Kathryn's from Snippet and Ink.
Row 4: not so sure, no clue, CB2, Nouveau Flowers via theKnot.com

Colors: Aqua/Turquoise, Poppy Orange, Lime and White
Please fill in the blanks for me if you know where I found these. I'm kinda forgetful!
